Farnsworth is then completely convinced that the spirit of Houdini is indeed inside Rapture's body. With this final statement, Rapture's plan accomplishes its objective and Mrs. Astral replies by telling her that anyone can look up the story of Houdini's life and that her own teacher studied under him, but Rapture, turning the tables around and using Astral's own accusations against her, asks her what's the meaning of throwing a hat, and Astral replies that it was a signal Houdini and his wife had when they were angry with one another if his wife threw the hat out of the room, it meant that they should wait until both had calmed down. Noticing the ongoing scam, Astral tries to expose Rapture, but the latter starts mentioning a number of facts about the real Houdini, such as that he took his name from a French conjurer named "Houdini", that he started performing from the age of six, and that he was a locksmith, an acrobat and a puppeteer. Noticing this, Rapture steals a pair of gloves from a mannequin of Houdini –which happen to have belonged to the real escapist– and begins one of her usual con acts, where she feigns being possessed by Houdini's spirit, easily fooling Mrs. Farnsworth is smart enough as to not easily fall to fabricated charms, she is also extremely superstitious.
